The FIP World Congress of Podiatry is the premier foot and ankle conference of the International Federation of Podiatrists – Federation Internationale des Podologues (FIP-IFP). Since the inception of the World Congress of Podiatry in 1966, this world class event serves to be the largest gathering of international podiatrists who will join together as colleagues from over 40 countries. The conference features oral and poster presentations, interactive workshops and an exhibitor hall of over 100 podiatric service providers from around the world.

In 2016 the FIP-IFP hosted the best World Congress in its history. The Palais des Congrès of Montreal welcomed over 850 of the world’s leading specialists in foot care over 3 days. The conference opened up with the flag ceremony followed by the address of the FIP-IFP President, Carine Haemels. The cultural entertainment was provided by an amazing cirque performance by Cirque Fantastique.
Keynote speakers included Dr. John Bell, a Canadian who is Scientific Director of the recently awarded National Centre of Excellence for the Development of Biotherapeutics for Cancer Therapy and also heads, the Canadian Oncolytic Virus Consortium, a Terry Fox funded group that is developing virus based cancer therapeutics. Dr. Bell who will be presenting a session on New Frontier in Treating Cancer.
Dr. Kristien van Acker is the Chair of the International Working Group (IWGDF) and the Chair of the Consultative Section of the Diabetic foot of International Diabetes Federation (IDF). Dr. Van Acker will be the speaking on The Challenge of Filling the Gap of Diabetic Foot Care on the International Level: Podiatrists Are the Gate Keepers!
Dr. Leonard Levy, Dean of three podiatric medical schools, president of one, Associate Professor of Dermatology, Stanford University, Life Member, American Academy of Dermatology, Emeritus Member, American Public Health Association, Dr. Levy spoke on the Role of the Profession In Public Health.
Additional presenters included Drs. Brad Bakotic, Michael Graham, Tracey Vlahovic, Aditya Gupta, Margreet Van Putten, Kevin Kirby, Lawrence Osher, Patrick Deheer, Francois Allart , Matt Garoufalis, Jeffrey Ross, Joseph Caporusso and many others.
